Something HIT Me The Other Morning…
Posted: 08 Aug 2008 07:25 AM CDT
The other morning in my quiet time something hit me like crazy.
Mark 10:17 mentions Jesus being on Hie way to Jerusalem.
Mark 10:32 says the same thing…Jesus was on the way to Jerusalem.
Then, in Mark 11:1 I read again that Jesus was approaching Jerusalem.
Three times I saw this and it HIT ME! “Jesus was on His way to Jerusalem to die! He knew what was going to happen there…and was completely willing to set aside His need/desire for comfort or convenience for the sake of a cross.”
I was convicted! So many times I have made this life about me, about doing what is the easiest thing to do…about taking the most convenient way around whatever I may be facing.
But Jesus walked towards to cross, knowing that in the end God was going to be glorified and the world wasn’t going to be the same.
That should be my desire as well…to fix my eyes on Jesus and to fully follow Him…even when it isn’t convenient…even when it means laying aside my desire for comfort…even when it means persecution…even when it means pain and suffering.
Because…without the cross their is no resurrection!
Jesus, completely trusted His Father and walked toward Jerusalem!
I want that same level of trust in Him, knowing that as I follow I will experience some things that will hurt and confuse me…but knowing that He is perfect and Holy…and so are His plans.

Tuesdays tend to be the longest day of the week for me. I start off the day typically with a worship staff meeting with our worship pastor, of course this is after my QT, then after that and a little planning it’s lunch time. I usually try to take someone involved in worship/tech ministry to lunch, then back to the drawing board. At 2pm I meet with one of our youth/young adult worship guys to discuss musician rotation and set-list. Then after that I try to spend time on my instrument but I usually go from building to building make sure our campus is ready for all 7 of our worship rehearsals. We have 2 worship structures one at 180remix and another at Harvest Time. Here is our rehearsal schedule on tuesday nights:
- 5:30 180HS worship band practice
- 5:30 180JH worship band practice
- 5:30 180JH/HS worship vocal practice
- 6:30 HT praise team worship practice
- 7:00 Transfer 5th/6th grade worship band practice
- 7:00 HT worship band practice
- 7:00 HT worship choir practice
It’s pretty crazy to think that just 9 months ago we only had 9 musicians in our youth/young adult bands. Since Genesis (our national youth conference) our worship team has been moving with an incredible momentum. On every Wednesday night we have 2 simultaneous services with 2 bands leading worship at the same time. Just 4 weeks ago we combined both the bands to ONEband and held a tryout. Now our team consist of 25 musicians who are devoted to being ONEband. Part of the new vision we’ve casted is developing and discipling worship. So to do this we use started using one of our practices once a month to have ONEband breakouts. Basically this gives us an opportunity to teach worship to the young musicians and worship leaders in a small group setting. I take the time to put this in a blog because this is one of the most important things I will ever do in ministry, discipleship. And pardon me for being extremely stoked about what God is doing. : ) This has been an awesome journey so far. If you want to know what makes me tick, here it is. Here are some great pictures of the team hanging out before ONEband breakouts.
