I'm on the bandwagon.

January 7, 2009  |  Creative

I feel that this year needs to be different than last.  There are certain things in life that I constantly try to change, effect, move, influence, and be part of that just aren’t lending themselves.  This year I’m focusing on what I can: myself.  My goal is to read a book every 2 weeks.  I know this sounds weak.  But coming from a guy who polished a whole 4 book last year this is a great challenge.

I’ve already used almost all of my Christmas money to order books from Amazon.  No cool shirts or new jeans for me.  Just books.  So I figured I would start somewhere with some accountability.  My first/second book I will be reading this year is Pure Praise by Dwayne Moore.  There is a huge uproar at The Worship Community.com over this book.  Tons of worship leaders are going to be doing this study together, discussing it daily, and growing in unity.

If you are a worship leader, get in on this.  Go here and jump in the discussion, Go here and buy the book, then go here and tell Mandy what your resolution is that your poised to fail.  Come Join my friends Fred, Russ, and Rich.

  1. My only resolution this year is to live life to it’s fullest and not try to become anything else or get to involved with trying to change myself.

  2. @wine blog, I guess that’s one take on a resolution. Me, on the other hand, need lots of changing. I’m far from the person I want to be and feel called to be.

Resolutions don’t work to change anything….but commitment and passion do.

So hopefully, it’s more than a resolution I’ve made. Time will tell.

  3. nothing wrong with making resolutions.

    in this context resolution means:

    a) a resolve or determination.
    b) the mental state or quality of being resolved or resolute; firmness of purpose.

Technically, your own words define resolution just as good as the dictionary! Commitment and Passion…add those to a purpose and you have a resolution.

I think we should make resolutions and the fact that you are sharing them builds accountability into your journey. Kudos.

Living life to it’s fullest means different things to different folks.

To the Christ follower it means putting others first, which really means allowing yourself to be changed. Some of that changing happens “spiritually” – while some of that change happens because we make the decision to implement behaviors that are conducive to change.

All that said to say, GO FOR IT!!

I think this study will be a great benefit to all the participants!

  4. I certainly can’t change myself, but hopefully God can change my heart through this study.

  5. Just be sure and count me in! I’d love to be in from the beginning!
