Worship, Minus the Music.

February 27, 2009  |  DiscipLeadership, Worship  |  3 Comments

Just a few weeks back I had the priviledge of teaching at one of our Gatherings. The Gathering is a night were the entire worship team from every ministry comes together for a night of worship, fellowship, and foodship. Inside of this event we try to accomplish a few things: a really good worship set for the worshipers by the worshipers, a really good teaching on worship, and building relationships with fellow worshipers on campus that we may or may not know.
The HTworship ministry is made up of 100+ musicians, vocalist, and techies. All the way from our 5th and 6th grade ministry, Transfer, to our 180remix youth/young adult ministry, to our “big church” worship teams. So needless to say, it’s completely necessary to come together like this for unity and teaching and fun.
On this post I’ve added the video of the lesson I taught. If you don’t want to watch me teach on worship for 15 minutes then I’ve also uploaded my notes.
I’ll ask you this question before you jump. What does worship look like, in your life, with the sound turned off?

Transfer Banners

Every so often I get called up and asked to do some design stuff.  I’m guessing it’s only every so often because of my skill level and I’m not referring to being great.

A few weeks back I got one of those calls and designed some pretty spiffy banners for our 5th and 6th grade ministry here at the HT.  The ministry is called Transfer and it’s actually been getting an entire face lift.  New sound, lighting, and video systems.  New stage and room design with banners and trussing.

Genesis Conference 009 #1

February 20, 2009  |  Worship  |  1 Comment

Where to start?  God did so many amazing things.  Genesis is our youth and young adult national conference.  This was our second year to host this conference.  The line-up was amazing.  We had Chris Hill (T.D. Jakes former youth pastor, Chris is crazy), Brock Gill (the Illusionist), Mike Mille (the coolest bald cajun I’ve met),  Josh Mayo (our incredilbe youth pastor), Adam Sanders (youth pastor from Victory Christian Center), Dan Maciuk, Craig Johnson, MCRemix, and of course the 180remix worship team.  With over 1,200 in attendance it’s easy to say that God was in control.

We had over 20 musicians/vocalist rotate through the 3 worship sets.  Our worship team did such an incredible job.  It is such an honor to be part of such a great group of musicians who are called and anointed.  The worship at Genesis was off the charts.  We’ve debated bringing in a big time worship team but honestly I don’t think it could really get any better.

One of my main focus’ and callings is not just leading worship but discipling it.   I am on a such spiritual high right now from actually seeing my calling laid out before me.  Soooo many times in ministry we work towards something we can not see.  This has been no different, it’s been a struggle at times.  But in moments like these we need to cherish every second, journal it, and build off of it.  Don’t forget the victories of the past while fighting the battles of your future. That’s good.

I can’t recreate Genesis worship for you but I can give you a visual look into it.  This is the best way I can explain what God did.
