Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
God has anointed us…
- to preach the gospel to the poor
- to heal the broken hearted
- to preach deliverance to the captives
- to bring sight to the blind
- to set free those who are bruised, in bondage
- to preach the year of the Lord
When I read this today I was moved. We preach a lot but how often to the poor? We sing a lot but how often are people set free? We pray a lot but how often are people healed?
For the first time ever, I went to a rodeo.
For the first time ever, I went on a men’s church retreat.
For the first time ever, I went trout fishing, an hour of it topless.
For the first time ever, I ate rainbow trout at a shore lunch 20 minutes after I caught it.
For the first time ever, I met Jimmy Houston (world renown bass fisherman).
For the first time ever, I ate a 21 oz ribeye steak.
Have you had any first recently? I had quite a few last week.
