Wednesday was a momentous day for my family. There was life and there was death. My brother Grant and his wife Lindsey had their first baby Wednesday morning. Beautiful baby Tara Noel came into this world at 12:04 p.m. The first girl grand baby for my parents. It was a special day for me and my wife because for the first time we were aunts and uncles. We’ve got two scrapping boys, Jadon 3 and Jonah 1, but not nieces or nephews. Now it’s time to return the spoiling favor to my brother and sister-in-law. I tried to give Tara a sucker on her 2nd day in this world but her mom wouldn’t have it. Watch it Lindsey, it’s coming : ) Wednesday was a day of great celebration as we watched one of God’s miracles come to be with us here on earth.
Wednesday was a momentous day for my family. There was life and there was death. My great grandma, Granny Bookout, passed away and went to be with Jesus. She was in her eighties and had lived for Jesus every moment I’ve known her. My Grandpa Bookout passed away when I was in junior high (over 13 years ago). Since that day she has been ready. She was my Great Grandma and my boys Great Great Grandma. Luckily she got to spend some time with both our boys before she went on. Wednesday was a of great celebration as we watched one of God’s children go to be with Him forever in eternity. Love you Granny!
Last night was crazy. It was one of those worship leading frenzy nights where you ask yourself, “What just happened?” It was all a blur. I led 3 Worship sets in 1 hour for 3 different demographics. Here is the breakdown of my night.
5:30 – 180remix JH sound check/rehearsal
6:00 – Mid-week Adult sound check
7:00 – Mid-week Adult worship
7:20 – 180remix JH worship
7:45 – Mid-week Adult worship altar/offering
8:15 – Worship at home with my 2 boys (Jad 3, Jonah 1)
The first set of the night was in our TLC (Total Life Center, gym) for our mid-week Bible study. It’s a pat you on the back set, usually 1-2 songs at the most. The second set was for our junior highers. It was one of those butt kicking nights. They were somewhat apathetic and disconnected, as was I. So I spoke up, challenged, and created an opportunity for us to be real with God. Worship took off, it was good! My third set was probably the most fun. I typically don’t bring my acoustic home with me but I did last night. My boys were begging me to pull it out so they could play with it. I led Jad’s favorite worship song, Say So. Then I started taking request which led me down the path of the ABC song, If You are Happy and You Know It, and then finally Jingle Bells.
It was a night of worship I probably won’t ever forget.
